A Christmas Horror Story #25XmasMovies

WARNING:  THIS MOVIE IS NOT RATED, BUT SHOULD BE RATED R!

This movie is crazy.  I am not a horror fan, but I actually enjoyed this one.  For a synopsis look at the descriptions below, but first, here’s my notes:

First off, we open on a cool looking North Pole with a bloodied Santa Claus… Like I said, crazy.  I am always a fan of “tough guy” Santa, which is why I was even interested in this film.  William Shatner plays a radio host in a small town.  There’s a pretty gory murder (I’m also not a big fan of gore) that some high schoolers are investigating.  Adrian Holmes is in this!  There are a lot of horror tropes in this one too.  The conversation between the husband and wife in the church is fantastic, so true.  And (this is weird to say) but the sex scene (no nudity) in the high school basement with the teenagers is probably exactly how it’d go down in real life (the girl and guy’s reactions to what just happened is perfect).  This this is well written, yeah, there are some lame lines and over-done scenes, but they may even be intentional.  The acting is good, the sets are really good, and the makeup is fantastic.  Seriously, this movie didn’t go to theaters?  Was this a big deal and I missed it?  The production value is great.  And overall it was more suspenseful than scary; and there was even one and a half happy endings!  And without spoiling the ending, THIS MOVIE IS CRAZY!

Netflix Description:  This anthology features a quartet of holiday-themed horror tales, including Santa battling zombie elves and demonic Krampus stalking a naughty family.

IMDB Description:  Interwoven stories that take place on Christmas Eve, as told by one festive radio host: A family brings home more than a Christmas tree, a student documentary becomes a living nightmare, a Christmas spirit terrorizes, Santa slays evil.

Rotten Tomatoes Description:  It’s the season of joy, peace, and goodwill… unless you live in Bailey Downs. Last Christmas Eve, two teens came to a grisly end in a school basement. Now, one year later, a new set of horrors has come to town. As three friends explore the site of the massacre, a malevolent spirit is determined to keep them there forever. One of the first cops to the scene of the murders has new complications as his son exhibits terrifying and violent behavior. And when a local family seeks reconciliation with an estranged aunt, they suddenly find themselves running in terror from Krampus, the demonic anti-Santa Claus. Not even St. Nick is immune to the terror as he fights a horde of zombie elves. This is destined to be a holiday no one will ever forget.
